Well, I did it. I ended up getting the 16 volume set of Sir Richard Burton's Alf Laylah Wa Laylah - "The Tale of a Thousand Nights & a Night" aka The Arabian Nights. There is a website where the entire text is on it, but nothing takes the place of holding each of these precious volumes in your hands and the intimacy of curling up with them and reading them. I am smitten by the literature and the attention to detail that Burton gives. I know it was one hell of a splurge but I did check out the pricing over on abebooks.com and I got the set for a song compared to the really roughed up sets that are out there. Thank you eye_of_ra, NeferuHetHert for pointing this out to me! :)

I have fannyfae posted for, I had to get that one out. I will most likely post a synopsis post for barbossa_fic sooner or later. Right now, however, I am victim to my own version of AWW (another wasted weekend) and I have Pantheacon to get ready for next week. *sigh*

Ma'ai and I have been discussing the Weekly World News. Yes, that loveable tabloid newspaper we all seem to see in the checkout stand at the grocery store and WalMart and scoff at. My personal favorite headline, and one I bought the paper for, I very stupidly lost. "200-foot Jesus Appears in Washington!" (April 2, 1996). Man, if I could find that I would be a happy camper. I cannot remember ever laughing so hard at anything in the "news", but this one was very funny as it showed a picture of Jesus knocking on the dome of the Capital building. Funny stuff! I wonder if 200 ft Jesus ever took a midnight flight to NYC to visit Lady Liberty...hmmm....
