Jan. 9th, 2003 11:43 amI have purchased the "Holy Vita-Mix" for Green Angels! I can almost here Franciscan Monks or the sounds of Hildegard of Bingen in the background as the box opens. Its an old chrome Vita-Mix 4000 Commercial model. I have my own, an old 3600 Plus, recommended to me by herbalist, James Green. In the long run, though they are expensive, even as re-sale items from second hand stores, or in this case for me, eBay, they will last a hell of a lot longer than the tens of coffee grinders I have destroyed trying to grind herbs. Don't even talk to me about a mortar and pestle. They are good for some things, but for others, if you are a masochist, hey...whatever lights your Roman candle, babe! I remember one of the last grinders I used. I had it out of the box five minutes. Five minutes! before I threw some turmeric that Dipti DasGupta, Subhajit's mother had brought me from India. The blades hit that turmeric, and broke at the base. Well, there went $30! When I look back, I realize that my expenditures in grinding devices would probably have covered the national debt for Moldova last year!
