Herbal Treasure Troves!!
Dec. 13th, 2003 09:12 pmI just got a link off of one of my herbal mailing lists for the Missouri Botanical Gardens.
Rare Herbals
The Missouri Botanical Gardens have scanned over 45 different old tomes, which include William Woodville's "Medical Botany" in 4 volumes (1790-1794) The books are profusely illustrated and contain medicinal plant information. The MoBot also has a nomenclature and distribution database (called W3TROPICOS) that is available from the main page). All species are cross linked.
Its wonderful to know this precious information will not be lost!
Another list of wonderful old herbal texts can be found at Henriette Kress' herbal page:
Classic Herbal Texts
Copiously cross-posted to all relevant groups.
