I weep because I believed

I ache because the words told me were lies

You took away my innocence.

You look down your nose at those
Who you say are 'dark'
and spiritually beneath you.
If your way is 'light'
Then I should prefer the 'darkness'
At least those ones who you think
Are lesser than yourself
never lied, never cheated, never hurt me so deeply.

Gifts professed to have been given in love
Sour and tarnish in the light of what is real
The words are cheap and oft repeated
The trinkets crumble like castles made of sand.

Thanks you guys! Its ok, really. You ever have to deal with betrayal on such a deep level that it leaves you just...stunned? Its hard when you have a friend, that you have known for ten years, who you believed in, whom you trusted, who you gave the key to what was valuable to you - only to have them turn that trust to something hurtful. The situation made me feel so small - because of my vouching for them, they were able to not only hurt me, but hurt others.
