Well, I was lucky in that in my early teens we marched drum corps. My father was the business manager for the Cedar Rapids Emerald Knights, and we had this one year, 1977 where we were on the road almost the entire summer. Alot of people don't know that when you go to parades, or appear in them, you get paid. When you show up at a drum corps show, regardless of showing, you do get something for going. It was a great way to grow up.
I don't think I ever got to Canada or Mexico till I was in my twenties, and Mexico it was just across the border to go shopping. Canada was a ride on the Princess Margarite to Victoria for the day. :) The UK was for a whole whopping four days and that was for work! If the air fare hadn't been less than it cost to fly to Chicago ($250 RT) I would never have gotten to go.
LOL. Well most of the states I have been to was because we drive where we want to go so I have driven through a lot of those states. Didn't really visit them so much.
