I've been roleplaying since I was eleven. ELEVEN. That's ten years. Roleplaying has always been outlet for me to escape from the stresses of RL if only temporary. Being left-handed and a Gemini, it's also a good way for me to let go of the creative juices that are ALWAYS flooding my brain. When I write, I want to enjoy myself and have fun with my friends and the people I write with.
Communication: Communication is definitely key. If someone doesn't like the way I'm doing things, they have a few choices. They don't have to read what I write. They don't have to regard my existence. But if they do, for crying out loud, tell me! :P That is all I ask! I'm not a bad person and I know how to discuss things like a frickin' adult. If you don't say anything then all you have to blame is yourself. We're NOT mind-readers, unfortunately. That would make life so much easier if we were, wouldn't it? LOL.
Writing: Writing/roleplaying is a great way to explore. That is what it's all about. :P Personally? I just go with the flow and see what happens. I always said writing/roleplaying is like surfing -- you don't fight against the wave, you ride with it. It's very likely things are going to eventually change as more writers and plots arise into your character's life. Unless you plan everything from the very start, it's impossible to know what happened in your character's life. Sometimes it can get a little messy and confusing but that's when you work through it. That's half the fun, in my opinion! :D God knows I've been needing to do that for my poor tortured Athos. I never planned on Duncan until me and Jo started talking about it and I didn't even plan on Athos meeting Connor Macleod sometime before modern day until the mun asked me. Someday soon, Athos is going to meet The Doctor who will be coming in during the century while he is still a musketeer. It's going be fun.
I don't think I can say anything that you haven't already said in this post. The bottom line is to have fun. Unless you're getting paid to do it, everything is an open window. If you're not enjoying yourself then obviously you have a problem you need to fix.
