A Day From Hell

Perhaps I shouldn't have worn a black dress today. I set off to work on time, like any other day - but there was a light dusting of snow. I went to town, gassed up my truck and headed out toward Cedar Rapids. Not a mile outside ofAnamosa a deer runs out in front of my truck. I slam on the brakes and I *almost* miss her. I clip her hind end, and it's still dark so I cannot tell if I have killed the poor beast. I end up finding a place to see what kind of damage that has been done to my truck. I can already see by the headlight beam hitting the tall blue spruces along the road that I have damaged my headlight, or bent the front end enough to cause it to do that. But everything is driving fine. When I pull off-road, I find that the lense and reflector of my headlight is shattered, but the bulb is still shining. Yay. New headlinght time!
At work, people were rude, obnoxious and generally insufferable jerks. Things started to go well and stay in a good place until about the last half hour of the day. It turns out the woman who would have been my supervisor for the quality assurance position that I have been asked to fill, is going to go work for one of our clients. Shingai is an amazing, graceful woman who has more integrity than most anyone I have ever met in this city. Our stupid company is doing nothing to retain her, and the person that will be filling Shingai's position in the interim is a scowling, mean spirited very young woman who if she doesn't get a clue fast could easily blow it with our client, Dow Jones. *sigh*
My bank has not sent me acknowledgement of a deposit made on Monday (technically Tuesday because of the Columbus Day holiday) so I am sweating bullets until payday (tomorrow). All I can say is that compared to last week, this week rather sucked.
