This was posted over at the forums at Autonomedia.org. My thanks a million times over to [livejournal.com profile] lakenaiad for having introduced me to the site.

The time is NOW to wake up, people! This is not a joke anymore! If you're satisfied with how the criminals in office are running this country, this war, this world, then by all means, put your head back in the sand and wait it out. If, however, you are at all inclined to think to yourself, "something is going on here," or "There has to be something we can do!", then you need to listen to this man. This man, John Trudell who has held my attention and admiration since I was a mere ten years old. I was ten when I heard him, when he was President of AIM (The American Indian Movement) addressing a Senate sub-committee on violence against American Indians on reservations during the seventies. He so impressed me, that I wrote his name down in a storybook that I had. I still have that book, and that man has become even more of a hero to me.

Why?

Because he had the audacity to burn the American flag on the steps of the BIA building, and less than 24 hours later, his wife, his children and mother in law were burned alive in a mysterious fire at their home nearly two thousand miles away. No cause was ever found. What happened? They were the casualties of war - even in this country. The powers that be wanted to silence him, but they never have silenced him. Nor will they change the fact that he is probably one of the most powerful speakers on social change in our generation.

You owe it to yourself to listen up.

intro:
This emerging figure, spoken-word artist, American Indian Movement speaker, is beginning to achieve a well-deserved respect. Unlike most of today's known demystifyers, Trudell's insights and analysis goes much deeper towards demystifying what few, even Chomsky, have done in helping individual people understand the *War Games* played upon all of us systematically, and it's about time we started to understand, just like so many indigenous peoples of the world have been FORCED to understand.
